The incident happened at the Weir Lounge, in Spring Gardens Road, just before midnight last night.

A man, 23, was assaulted and suffered serious head injuries during the incident.

He was taken to Southmead Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the club at the time of the incident, who witnessed it, to please contact them with any information they may have.

Temporary Det Insp Dickon Turner said: “This incident is being investigated and we are following several lines of enquiry to establish what has happened. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, and who saw what happened, to please come forward with information.”
