Police are appealing after a man was assaulted on a bus after asking someone to remove his feet from a seat so that he could sit down.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (10th December) at around 11.30am. The victim was travelling on the number 315 service operated by First Bus between Bath and Cribbs Causeway and the assault occurred as it travelled through the Cold Harbour Lane area in Bristol.

The victim had got on the bus and asked the offender, who was sitting across two seats, to move so he could sit down.

This was met with racial abuse so the victim sat in a seat behind at which point the offender grabbed the victim by his jacket, threw him to the floor and held him there.

The victim got himself free and called the police and the offender ran off at the next stop.

The incident is being investigated and officers would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident. The suspect is a white man in his mid-20s to early-30s, 6’1”-6’2” tall with a wide face, stocky build and short black hair.

He was wearing jeans, trainers and a black hooded top.

If you witnessed the assault or saw something which could help, please call Avon and Somerset Police on 101 and quote 124404/13.

Probably easy to trace the suspect by going through the membership of the Bristol/Somerset EDL divisions.

Surely the driver could have shut the bus doors till the police arrived? This is a serious assault.
