A 93-year-old Bath woman has knitted over 100 miniature hats for the annual Big Knit charity campaign.
Run by Innocent Smoothies, the Big Knit raises money for Age UK charities across the UK, helping older people stay warm, safe and socially connected each winter.
Hats knitted by people across the country are sent in, put onto the Innocent smoothie bottles and are available to buy in stores in November. For every hatted bottle sold, 25p is donated to Age UK charities across the UK.
“I find it an easy thing to do while I’m watching television,” said Nora Gee, who has been knitting the mini hats for the last three years. She says that she plans to make as many as she can before the September 20th deadline this year.
Age UK B&NES chief executive Janet Dabbs said: “We’re all very impressed with Nora’s knitting abilities, but even if you can only manage to knit one or two we’d be very grateful.
“We will be collecting the hats at our office at 18 Kingsmead Square until the end of September. Every single one will help raise money for essential services for older people.”
