Villagers in Peasedown St John came together as a team on Saturday to clean up their local area, in a bid to benefit the community.

Organised by B&NES councillors Nathan Hartley and Sarah Bevan, residents gathered in Braysdown Lane and Bath Road to fill almost 10 bags of rubbish.

Cllr Sarah Bevan said: “Community clean ups are always useful, not only for giving the neighbourhood a spring clean, but also for bringing people together. Every once in a while it’s good for this kind of event to happen.”

Nathan and Sarah were joined by residents, community activists and parish councillors Karen Walker and Calvin Bird.

Karen, who is Vice Chairman of the Council, said: “Our community matters – the cleaner it looks the more pride people will fill about living here.

“Much of the litter is left when refuse collectors often miss items or don’t always pick everything up which means rubbish is left behind. I know that many local residents have raised concerns about this several times.”
