Don Foster MP has welcomed the news that a major childcare package could help parents in Bath, with up to 4580 families across the area potentially eligible for funds.
Working families will be given up to £2,000 to ease the cost of childcare as part of a scheme to be rolled out in Autumn 2015.
The Government has said it will provide 20 per cent support on childcare costs up to £10,000 per year for each child. For example, it means a family with two children under 12-years-old could benefit by up to £4,000 as a result.
Commenting, Don Foster MP said: “Today’s news provides a huge boost to hardworking families in Bath. These measures will help parents to go to work and provide security for their families.
“I meet many people in the constituency who struggle to pay their childcare costs, and this measure will go some way to easing this burden.
“The Liberal Democrats are committed to building a stronger economy and a fairer society and this helps children get off to the best start in life.”
The Government has also said people on Universal Credit will get 85 per cent of childcare costs fully covered.
