Lord Ashdown, former leader of the Liberal Democrats, recently visited local party members and activists for the party’s summer rally to launch their council candidates for the year ahead.
Over a hundred turned up in a packed out venue to hear Paddy Ashdown speak.
Alongside Paddy to share their views were Don Foster MP, Steve Bradley – Bath Liberal Democrat’s Parliamentary candidate, and Leader of the Council, Councillor Paul Crossley.
Don Foster MP commented saying: “It was great to have Paddy come to Bath for this event. Obviously me and Paddy go back a long way and I know how good he is at rallying the troops.
“It was brilliant to see so many people turn out for the event, and not all were Lib Dem members, which I believe shows just how highly Paddy is regarded.
With many councillors seeking re-election as well as a number of new faces it was a fantastic opportunity for the party to showcase their record locally and nationally.
Activists and members had the opportunity to debate the panel in a question and answer session and many had the opportunity to meet Paddy face to face.
Steve Bradley added: “It was great to see so many people out for what was a fantastic evening.
“Paddy did a great job rallying the troops as well as introducing our current crop of candidates who no doubt will have left that evening feeling inspired and determined to win.”
