Avon and Somerset Police are investigating after a man in his 50s was stabbed in Fairfield Park yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the serious incident at 4.23pm with officers rushing to the scene.
The man had called 999 from his home saying he had been injured in an incident. He then walked to Fairfield Park Health Centre while bleeding heavily.
The first most residents knew of an incident was when Avon and Somerset Police’s helicopter (NPAS43) came swooping low over the north of Bath on the lookout for the offender.
They were soon joined by the Great Western Air Ambulance which landed near the scene but was stood down as the patient was rushed to the RUH by land ambulance.
Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called to a report of a stabbing outside a health centre in the Snowhill area of Bath this afternoon.”
“One man was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. We’ve detained a man and are not currently looking for anyone else.”
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw anyone running from the scene, is asked to contact Bath police on 101.”
The nature of the patient’s injuries have not been released.
It is believed that the offender who stabbed the man was later discovered in Hillview Road in Larkhall by the force helicopter and tasered by police officers.
Police closed Tyning Lane as Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) investigated.
