A new 300-space public car park is now fully open for patients and visitors at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, following the completion of a new road at the site.
The new road means drivers can now access the car park from the main hospital entrance off Combe Park.
A new automated number plate recognition (ANPR) parking payment system is already in place in all RUH public car parks, operated by the car park management company ParkingEye.
It is a single system that replaces a mixture of barriers and pay and display machines and means drivers will be able to pay more accurately for the time they have parked.
Parking charges, for the fifth year running, have not been increased. Blue Badge holders can continue to park for free – they just have to register on the new system.
The RUH say their parking fees are not designed to generate profit, but are intended to cover the cost of providing onsite parking, including ownership, maintenance, security and staffing.
