The Royal United Hospital’s Sexual Health Service will be marking World AIDS day, on Saturday 1st December, with a special clinic in Bath offering HIV testing.

The dedicated walk-in session will be held at The Riverside Clinic, at the Riverside Health Centre in James Street West, Bath between 9.30-11.00am on Saturday 1st December.

Anyone aged 18 or over with no symptoms, but who would like to be tested for HIV (and other STIs if agreed) is welcome.

Lucy Twigger, Health Adviser, said: “At the clinic we offer free, friendly, non-judgemental and confidential testing.

“It’s a quick and easy process. HIV is a treatable infection with a normal life expectancy if diagnosed early so, if you have any concerns, it’s really important to have a test.

“World AIDS Day is a great opportunity to continue raising public awareness and understanding.”

Over 101,000 people are living with HIV in the UK, and globally there are an estimated 36.7 million people who have the virus.

Each year in the UK around 5,000 people are diagnosed with HIV. You can find out more at: http://www.ruh.nhs.uk/sexualhealth.
