Primary school children are being invited to take their teddies along to a special event at the Royal United Hospital in Bath this Saturday, 15th June.
The activity-filled day will give youngsters the chance to find out what happens in the Children’s Outpatient Department, with sessions taking place at the ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ in both the morning and afternoon.
The free event is in response to children’s growing fears of hospitals, creating a fun and educational day to put worries at ease.
The healthcare team will be running a series of interactive workshops where children can take their teddies to see a doctor, prepare their teddy for ‘surgery’, help plaster a teddy’s broken arm, and even take them for a dental check-up.
Children will get to see inside an ambulance, with paramedic volunteers helping to explain and demonstrate first aid.
There will also be games, craft activities and face painting and visitors will get to meet, Roly, the department’s teddy bear mascot.
The morning session is from 10am to noon and the afternoon one from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
