The RUH in Bath has once again been placed in the lowest possible risk band, the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) Intelligent Monitoring report has shown.

Chief Executive James Scott said: “We are pleased, once again, to have been placed in the lowest risk group of hospitals in England.

“We work hard to ensure that patients who come to the RUH for treatment get the high quality care they expect and deserve.

“The CQC Intelligent Monitoring report outcome is yet another endorsement of the quality of services we provide for our local population and should give patients and the community great confidence in the hospital.”

The CQC introduced the new rating system in July 2014 and the new-style report places Trusts into one of six risk bands, based on an assessment of 82 key indicators relating to the five key questions the regulator asks – ‘are services safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led?’

The RUH was visited as part of the first wave of new-style inspections last December, and the hospital received a good report with inspectors saying they deliver safe and effective care.

This latest rating of the hospital’s services comes exactly one month after it was granted a licence to operate as an NHS Foundation Trust.

The hospital achieved NHS Foundation Trust status following a rigorous five-month assessment process, which closely scrutinised the Trust’s financial robustness as well as its ability to deliver safe, quality care.
