Dr Andy Georgiou, a former Director of Intensive Care at the hospital, will talk about his experience of working in the RUH’s Intensive Care Unit at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two-day TedxBath event, titled Inter-Connected 2021, will explore how communities can thrive through local and global interconnections, and topics for discussion will include healthcare in the face of the pandemic.

Dr Georgiou said: “It’s a real honour to be invited to talk at such a high-profile event, alongside such an impressive line-up of speakers.

“I’ll be talking about the challenges that the intensive care community faced both locally in the RUH and across the UK at the height of the Covid pandemic and how we learned to tackle this devastating disease.

“The pandemic has brought the NHS unprecedented challenges never faced before and I will share some of our experiences and celebrate the work of the RUH’s incredible staff.”

The online event, which is set to take place on 18th and 19th November, will hear from 12 speakers in total, including former Chief Interpreter for the UN, Ewandro Magalhaes and international economist and best-selling author Kate Raworth.

Dr Georgiou will be speaking on 19th November. For more information about the event and to buy tickets, click here.
