Relatives who have lost loved ones who have been cared for in the Bath RUH’s Critical Care Unit, formerly Intensive Care, are being invited back to the hospital for a special remembrance event.
The ‘Light for Life’ gathering, the first that Critical Care has held, will take place on 13th December.
Critical Care Matron Gav Hitchman said: “We want to give people the opportunity to gather with friends, family and their local community to pay tribute to those they have loved and lost.
“We welcome anyone who wishes to attend, regardless of faith, from anywhere in the country, who has had contact with the Unit.
“It will be a chance for people to meet our staff again with whom they built a rapport and a relationship during their time with us. That’s important for staff too, who form an attachment with their patients and families at what is a very intense time.
“We hope the event will be simple and poignant and will provide comfort to many people.”
Guests will be given a star to add their loved one’s names and a short message. Each star will be placed on a ‘tree of remembrance’ which will be lit up later in the evening.
The ‘Light for Life’ gathering is from 6pm at the Oasis Centre at the RUH on 13th December.
Refreshments will be provided. If you would like to attend, write to Critical Care Matron Gav Hitchman, Royal United Hospital, Combe Park, Bath BA1 3NG or email [email protected].
