The annual plans for health and social care spend across Bath and North East Somerset are a key focus of the Health and Wellbeing Board meeting today (Wednesday 21st January).
The Board will hear from representatives from across the Council, Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England about their high level plans for services in the coming year.
This includes changes to how community services will be delivered (those general health and care services that are delivered at a person’s home or in nearby local care settings), helping people to better manage their health conditions and creating a sustainable urgent care system (that includes Accident and Emergency) for Bath and North East Somerset.
The Board will also receive a presentation from the BANES Network on some of their work in the local community.
The Network is supported and facilitated by Your Say Advocacy and focuses on local issues affecting the lives of people with learning disabilities.
Recent work includes involvement in the regeneration of Keynsham to ensure appropriate and accessible design and a Quality Checking service where people with learning disabilities monitor and review local services to ensure that they best meet local needs.
Cllr Simon Allen, Co-Chair of the Bath & North East Somerset Health and Wellbeing Board, said: “We will also be discussing local plans for the Think Local Act Personal campaign – which are geared towards delivering public services in an equal relationship between professionals, people using services, their families and their neighbours.”
Dr Ian Orpen, Co-Chair of the Bath & North East Somerset Health and Wellbeing Board, added: “These plans seek to enable greater choice and control for people who need support. They will also ensure that services are designed and delivered in co-operation with people rather than ‘done to’ them.”
Also at the meeting will be an update from the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board on their work to keep children safe, as well as a presentation of the latest Public Health Annual Report.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the Health and Wellbeing Board meeting, which will take place on Wednesday 21st January from 10am-12noon in the Brunswick Room at The Guildhall, Bath.
People can also watch the meeting online through a live webcast as well as get involved and pose related questions directly to the Health and Wellbeing Board ahead of the meeting via the Council’s Twitter feed @bathnes using the hashtag #HWB.
