Bath’s MP Ben Howlett is to become a Human Book on Saturday 10th October as part of five local events taking part in World Mental Health Day.
The five B&NES World Mental Health Day events include fun and thought provoking activities to break down stigma associated with mental health issues.
The event on Old Bond Street includes free wellbeing cakes as well as the Human Library which Ben is participating in.
Ben’s book is entitled “Help before it’s too late.”
Ben said: “I am passionate about mental health issues and in my role as MP, I am committed to ensuring mental health services enable those in need seek treatment.
“I have recently lost a friend to suicide and recognise how many people with mental health issues do not seek the help they need until it is too late.
“Since my election in May I have met a surprising number of constituents with different mental health issues, so much so I am looking to run a surgery ‘hub’ with a mental health specialist so people can drop in and have their needs assessed and be issued with a form of ‘social prescription’.
“I recognise many mental disorders are caused or exacerbated by social factors so sometimes a social solution can be more effective than a medical one.
“Do come and talk to me about how an MP may be able to help before it’s too late.”
