Local businesses are gearing up for the first Green Street Party of the summer which will take place on Sunday, 30th June and is expected to repeat last year’s success and attract hundreds of visitors.
Tasting Room, Belushi’s, The Old Green Tree and the Bath Sausage Shop are among traders participating in the al fresco feast where visitors will be given the opportunity to sample and buy a range of foods and drink while enjoying live music.
The Green Street Party is organised and coordinated by the Bath Business Improvement District (BID), which is responsible for licensing and setting up the event, as well as providing equipment such as gazebos, tables and cooking equipment.
Les Redwood, Bath BID project manager, said: “Following the resounding success of last year’s celebration, businesses in Green Street want to ensure we continue the event in 2013. The Green Street Sunday event is ideal for people to get together and enjoy the weather whilst supporting local traders. We would encourage residents and visitors to come along, have fun and get to know some of the best food and drink that Bath has to offer.
“The Business Improvement District’s work is dedicated to promoting and managing the city and it is events like this one that help us achieve these objectives and support businesses in a practical way.”
Will Baber, owner of the Tasting Room, added: “Green Street is a unique place in Bath and home to a great variety of shops, including some brilliant independent businesses. Last year with the help of the BID we resurrected a very successful event and we decided to continue with it this year with an initial street party featuring great music, food and drink, all on the street. With a further two parties planned for later in the year we look forward to some great days of eating, drinking and maybe a dance or two.”
The event on 30th June will run from 11am until 4pm and it is the first of a series of monthly Green Street feasts proposed for the summer. In October two parties are planned to take place in Green Street as part of the Great Bath Feast.
