Firefighters from across the area tackled a large blaze at a disused old people’s home in Bath earlier this morning.
Fire crews from Bath, Temple, Kingswood and Brislington fire stations were called in after smoke was reported coming from the three storey building in Green Park Road in Bath at 2.30am.
Due to the size of the building seven fire engines in total attended the incident.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the building to locate the source of the smoke which was coming from a number of windows.
Following a search the firefighters identified the cause of the smoke to be a fire involving a single room on the ground floor.
The fire involved rubbish in the former kitchen area which is believed to have been set on fire deliberately.
Fire crews used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Green Park House was recently bought by The Berkeley Group with the hope of regenerating the site into student accommodation.
