Firefighters rescued a lady from a car this afternoon, after it left the M4 motorway near Bath and came to a stop in a field following a collision with a lorry.
Crews from Patchway, Temple and Avonmouth fire stations were alerted to the incident on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway, between J18 (Bath) and J17, just after 12.20pm.
When crews arrived they found a car in a field with a lady aged in her 60s still in the vehicle.
It’s believed the car had been involved in a collision with a HGV.
Working alongside the ambulance service, firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue the lady from her car.
Once freed she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
