Services cancelled at Bath Spa station after person hit by train in Sydney Gardens

A number of services have been cancelled from Bath Spa station this evening, after a person was hit by a train between Bath and Chippenham.

The incident is believed to have happened in Sydney Gardens, and a large number of emergency service crews have been reported at the scene. A helicopter was also seen above the Bathwick area.

Great Western Railway say services to and from Bath Spa station are expected to be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 60 minutes until 8.45pm this evening.

Train services between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads are being diverted between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads, and will not serve Chippenham or Bath Spa.

Services along the Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury corridor will not be operating.

Local residents are being urged to check the status of their train before travelling this evening. You can do so by visiting the National Rail page here.
