The A4 Newbridge Road in Bath was closed in both directions on Sunday evening, 8th June, following a serious collision.

The crash, on the New Bridge over the River Avon, involved a Land Rover Discovery.
The driver of the vehicle appears to have collided with a wall on the opposite side of the road while travelling in the direction of Bristol.

Multiple emergency crews attended the scene, as did the Wiltshire Air Ambulance helicopter.
Firefighters had to rescue two of the occupants from the car.
The air ambulance flew from a field next to the site to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, the region’s Major Trauma Centre.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called at 7.15pm on Sunday 8th June by police to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Newbridge Road, Bath.
“Firefighters from Bath Fire Station rescued two people from the car, and one was transported to hospital via air ambulance.”
A statement from South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 19:11hrs on Sunday 8th June to a road traffic collision in Bath.

“We sent four double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene.
“We conveyed four patients by land ambulances to hospital.”
