Lansdown Road in Bath was closed in both directions this morning following a two car collision near the junction for Lansdown Lane, which left an elderly woman trapped.
Fire crews said they had to use specialist hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue an 80-year-old woman who was ‘medically trapped’ in one of the cars involved.
Crews from Bath’s Fire Station and Kingswood were called at 11.09am this morning, to assist in the rescue.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment and an extrication board to rescue the woman, who was then taken to hospital.
The collision happened on the short stretch of road between the junction for Lansdown Lane and the entrance to the Blathwayt Arms pub.
The South Western Ambulance Service said it was called at 10.50am to reports of a road traffic incident, and a number of resources were sent including a response officer, a responder in a car and an ambulance crew.
