Crews from Bath, Hicks Gate, Kingswood and a unit from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service were mobilised to reports of a fire in a building at the Claverton Down campus at 10.20am.

On arrival, firefighters found a fire in a kitchen on the fifth floor of a student accommodation block.

Crews used one 45mm jet and one safety jet to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters also ventilated the building using fans to clear smoke.

We are aware of a fire in a building on our campus. The building has been safely evacuated and Avon Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance and is extinguishing the fire. We would ask anyone coming to campus to avoid the Quarry Road entrance and the West side of campus. https://t.co/wp9ktsG0UK

Avon Fire & Rescue Service says the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
