Firefighters from the Bath and Bedminster fire stations have rescued a cow which had entered the River Avon at Saltford near Bath, after escaping from a nearby field.
Crews from Bath and Bedminster trained in animal and water rescue were called at just before 10am yesterday, Monday 22nd May, to Mead Lane after the animal was spotted on a river bank near a pub car park.
It’s thought the cow had managed to escape from its field, travelling several hundred metres along the river to the spot where it was found.
Firefighters in an inflatable raft and a safety boat encouraged the animal away from the river and up a steep bank.
They then guided it along a short stretch of road safely back to its herd.
