A preschool and forest school in Widcombe is celebrating their fourth outstanding Ofsted rating in a row, with staff saying they are “thrilled” at the recognition.
Acorns Preschool and Forest School is reportedly the only preschool in the area to have attained this record, with B&NES Council sending staff a congratulatory card.
The school, which is in the heart of Widcombe, is known for its creative, outdoor learning and it is this that has led them to the latest outstanding report.
As well as the “exceptionally strong and caring ethos”, Ofsted praised the staff at the preschool for the engaging learning activities which sees the children being involved with nature and doing woodwork, gardening, outdoor cooking and art.
They also praised the manager Dena Moore and staff for their “shared vision and drive for constant improvement”.
Dena Moore said: “Everyone at Acorns is absolutely thrilled to have received their fourth Outstanding rating in a row.
“The small team work so hard to ensure that each and every child reaches their full potential and has an incredible year full of amazing experiences.
“We are so happy that the Ofsted inspector recognised how settled, happy and engaged all of the children are, and how beneficial the Forest School sessions are to their confidence and well-being. ”
To mark their 46th anniversary and to celebrate the latest outstanding rating, the preschool are inviting anyone who has attended Acorns to a party at St Marks Church Widcombe on Friday 1st May.
