The University of Bath is to launch a new award to honour individuals who have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to the university, the city of Bath or the region.

The President’s Award will also recognise staff members who have had a significant impact on other people’s lives whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
The ambition is that recipients of the award will serve as role models for the community, so that their behaviour, example or achievement will inspire others and encourage the determination and discipline to achieve, even against setbacks or difficulties.
Awards will reflect the values of the university and recognise the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity.
Professor Ian White, Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “We are introducing this award as a new way of highlighting the breadth and depth of talent locally and regionally.
“This initiative will complement other awards the University makes, such as the conferment of honorary degrees.”
It is anticipated that the first recipients of the University of Bath President’s Awards will be celebrated at a special event held in the summer of 2023, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
Nominations can be made by current or former staff members and students, members of Council or one of the University’s committees.
Nominations for people outside of the university community are also welcomed if supported by a member of staff.
The deadline for the first round of nominations is 27th January 2023, although nominations can be made at any time.
