Thousands of people will be heading to the University of Bath next month for its annual autumn Open Day, with locals warned that traffic in the area could be severely disrupted.
The University of Bath will be opening its doors to prospective students and their families between 9.30am and 4pm on Saturday 15th September at its Claverton campus.
Open Days provide prospective students and their families with an invaluable opportunity to visit the University and the city of Bath to help them decide where they want to live and study.
With a reputation for world-leading research and excellent teaching, the University of Bath attracts some of the country’s most talented students, helping to put the city on the world stage as a global leader in education and research.
Visitors are being encouraged to visit the city itself as part of the Open Day and many stay overnight and enjoy experiencing many of Bath’s bars, eateries and tourist attractions.
In a statement, the University of Bath said it recognises their Open Day events bring considerable additional numbers of people to the area and that it “works hard to ensure any potential traffic disruption is mitigated”.
Visitors are encouraged to travel to Bath by public transport where possible, or to use the Lansdown Park and Ride facilities where extra bus services have been arranged for the event.
The University is also working closely with Bath & North East Somerset Council and others to ensure its September Open Day does not clash with any other major events taking place in the city.
