If you’re visiting the Bath Christmas Market, make sure you stop at chalet number 159 near Primark for handmade cards, gift wrap, and an array of present items handmade by Bath Spa University students.

Everything on the stall has been handcrafted by final year Bath Spa University students studying BA Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors.

The artistic group have named their stall ‘Designers in the Making’ and items will be available to buy for just one week only, from 4th to 10th December.

Items for sale include screen printed Christmas cards, wrap and labels. Framed artwork, embroidered brooches, bespoke jewellery, as well as homeware including cushions and mats – plenty of choice to find that perfect gift this Christmas.

The BA Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors course offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of techniques during the beginning of the course, including print, embroidery, knitting and weaving with students ultimately specialising in one area during their final year.

Student Millie Clake who will be helping to run the stall said: “Organising this Christmas stall has been fun as well as being a great learning experience for the whole final year group.

“As well as taking the time to make a wide variety of high quality items to sell, we’ve also been working as a team to organise the logistics behind manning a stall like this, including the advertising. I hope as many people as possible come to visit us during the first week in December.”

Student Imogen Rhodes-Davies who will be selling her embroidered brooches at the Christmas Market said: “What I love about studying at Bath Spa University is that I’ve been allowed to find my own style. It’s a very self-driven course, and tutors encourage you to work on open briefs so that you can develop creatively.

“I can’t wait to gradate and start my career in the fashion and textile industry.”
