Staff and Governors at Swainswick Church of England Primary School have been praised by Government inspectors after the school was given a glowing Ofsted report.
The report praised the work of Interim Headteacher Joe Beament, and his partnership with the Governors, Local Authority and local leaders.
The report highlighted Mr Beament being regarded as a ‘dynamic leader who has done an amazing job in a very short space of time’.
The watchdog praised the ethos and culture that creates an environment that sets the children on a ‘lifelong learning journey’.
The report states that: ‘Children love coming to school’, consider that they ‘learn so much’ and ‘pupils particularly appreciate the way that their teachers make learning fun’.
The report also commented that the school’s safeguarding systems are in place, teachers are fully trained and children feel safe in school, with the pupils saying there is always an adult they can talk to.
Interim Headteacher, Joe Beament, said: “The report accurately reflects the hard work, commitment and child centred approach all stakeholders of the school live by.
“I am extremely proud of what the school has achieved and the education we offer every child. The school has a very strong culture and ethos that values every member of the community, the staff are professional and dedicated and it has been a pleasure to lead them as Interim Headteacher.”
The importance of the community was reflected in the report, stating: “Pupils and parents ‘feel part of a community’ which is enriched through its strong links with the church. Pupils have a strong sense of community spirit and show great respect for each other.”
The report goes on to commend the work of the Governing body, saying: “The newly appointed governors bring with them a wealth of professional expertise.
“Governors have clear priorities for improvement and have a strong determination for the continuing success of this school.
“They are astute and use their skills very effectively to support and challenge the Headteacher.”
The report also took the views of parents, who are happy with the school.
One parent stated: “I can’t thank the staff at Swainswick enough for their encouragement, attention and inspiration they have shown my child.”
Mr Beament and Ben Williams (Chair of Governors) say they are not complacent and are aware that the school can continue to improve further.
In a letter to the Parents they said: “There are many aspects of the report that are worth celebrating but, of course, we also recognise that we can still improve further.
“We can assure you that the Governors and staff are committed to embedding and consolidating all the new systems and policies that have been put in place over the past few months.
“We will ensure that standards are not only maintained but improved further.”
