Jewellery retailer Fabulous has been working with students to re-model old pieces of jewellery as part of its Reloved (recycled jewellery) initiative in aid of the charity Breast Cancer Campaign.
The Reloved Campaign was launched in the Fabulous SouthGate store in January this year and has since collected a large mixture of unwanted and broken jewellery from customers, as well Fabulous themselves contributing £1,000 of stock.
The jewellery was donated to the City of Bath College in September and has seen four participating students’ complete one-off pieces using the items which will be displayed during Bath in Fashion in March 2015.
Jo Stroud, Owner of Fabulous said: “The students have worked really well to our brief and created some innovative and beautifully crafted pieces of jewellery from our customer’s old, unwanted or broken items.
“The finished results are fantastic and we look forward to showcasing them during Bath in Fashion 2015, hopefully selling the pieces and raising money for our chosen charity Breast Cancer Campaign.”
Melanie Sproat, Advanced Design and Craft Jewellery Course Tutor commented: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Fabulous who have been very supportive to the students and provided a range of high quality materials for them to work with.
“The students have fully embraced the brief and got to grips with integrating the materials to recycle and recreate items of jewellery that they can be proud of and that will raise money for a worthwhile cause.”
The project aims to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Campaign through the promotion and sales of the selected finished designs.
Fabulous will hold a Styling Lunch on the 25th March 2015 and a Reloved Jewellery Making Workshop on the 29th March 2015 at the Vintage Sunday Market in Green Park.
