A popular After School Club in Peasedown St John, near Bath, has recruited additional staff to help meet the demand shown by schoolchildren and their parents.
SJ’s After School Club is run by Sarah Carney of St John’s Church on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. If offers a full range of activities, crafts, story-telling, cookery sessions and outside play.
Children’s Worker, Sarah Carney, said: “There is a lot going on each week for children here at St John’s Church, one of these things is our popular After School Club – which is now in its 4th year!
“At SJ’s After School Club children can expect to enjoy a light homemade tea whilst having a good catch up with everyone in the group – sharing jokes and stories.
“They get to do a different craft or cooking activity every session and there is always play dough and colouring, puzzles and board games available.
“For those who are more active, we have a large open space which we use for ball games and out door play such as den building.”
Joining the staff team recently have been Gillie Barton and Samantha Monks, with both having large amounts of experience of working with children.
Vicar at St John’s Church, Revd Matthew Street commented: “We’re grateful to have both Gillie and Samantha join us. The After-School Club is immensely popular and so extra pairs of hands to help support the children has been hugely welcomed.
“St John’s Church loves being a part of the community, in particular by ensuring local children can access positive engagement at the end of the school day.”
SJ’s After School Club meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3.15pm to 5.45pm. For details, visit www.stjsgroup.church/afterschoolclub.
