Schools across Bath close for the day following snowfall overnight

A number of schools across Bath & North East Somerset have decided to close today, after more snow fell across the area overnight, creating icy and treacherous conditions at various sites.

Many of the schools had said yesterday evening that they’d planned to open today, however more snow than was predicted fell overnight, leading to their closures this morning.

Those schools that have closed include:

  • Abbot Alphege CE Academy
  • Aspire Academy (Formerly The Link Centre)
  • Bath Community Academy
  • The Bath Studio School
  • Bathampton Primary
  • Batheaston CofE VC Primary
  • Bathford CofE VC Primary
  • Beechen Cliff – Academy
  • Broadlands – Academy
  • Clutton Primary
  • Combe Down CofE Primary
  • Hayesfield Girl’s School
  • Moorlands Infant
  • Moorlands Junior
  • Newbridge Primary
  • Oldfield – Academy
  • Oldfield Park Infant
  • Oldfield Park Junior
  • Paulton Infant
  • Paulton Junior
  • Ralph Allen – Academy
  • Roundhill Primary
  • Shoscombe CofE VA Primary
  • Somerdale
  • St Andrew’s C of E VA Primary
  • St Gregory’s Catholic College
  • St John’s Catholic VA Primary (Bath)
  • St Keyna Primary
  • St Mark’s Church of England
  • St Martin’s Garden Primary

The University of Bath has also closed due for the day.

A number of schools will be open today, though later this morning to allow for sites to be cleared and gritted. A full list can be found on the B&NES Council website here.
