Pupils at King Edward’s School in Bath have celebrated record-breaking A Level results, with 88% of grades at A*-B and 66% at A* or A, the latter being the School’s best ever performance.

There was a 100% pass rate, and 43 pupils, more than 40% of the cohort, emerged with straight A*/A grades, including 10 with 3 A*s or better.

A quarter of all entries gained the coveted top grade, more than three times the national average.

Unusually, two pupils achieved a perfect score of full UMS* marks in all AS and A2 modules in one of their subjects; Amber Rollinson scored 400 out of 400 in her English Literature A level, whilst Stassia Putt achieved an equally impressive 100% in her Latin exams.

As in previous years there were strong performances in all subject departments, with notable achievements this year including the 95% A*-B success across all three Modern Languages and 100% in English (both Language and Literature).

Headmaster, Mr Martin Boden, said: “These truly outstanding results from a very talented year group have added to what has been a fantastic year for the School.

“Everybody has worked very hard to achieve these grades, and I am delighted that so many of our leavers from the Upper Sixth will be moving on to the next stage in their lives with this well-deserved success under their belts; I wish them the best of luck and happiness in all that they do.”

Pupils in the Lower Sixth also had much to cheer, as they celebrated some excellent notional AS grades, with well over half at A and three quarters at A or B.

With such an impressive platform to build on, they will certainly be looking to emulate the success of this year’s cohort when they take their A Levels next year.
