Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams MBE recently visited Bath Spa University to give students an inspirational talk on the resilience she has shown throughout her personal and professional life.
Organised by the Placements Team at the University, Amy headlined an evening aimed at exploring the challenges that can be faced in the workplace and the resilience students need to show when starting a placement or new job.
“I really enjoyed meeting the Bath Spa students and looking back at my career in a different light,” commented Amy.
“Resilience is a really important tool to develop, and hopefully the evening has helped guide the students to feel confident in doing that as they start to enter the world of work.”
Jamie Bradbury, Placements Manager at Bath Spa, added: “Placements are becoming increasingly important for students.
“They can help to clarify a student’s career goals, provide a better understanding of a particular role or industry as well as excellent networking opportunities. They can also help to increase confidence and help students to stand out in the job market.
“At Bath Spa, we’re really keen to help students get the most out of the opportunities they have, and I’m sure that Amy’s openness about her own experiences, and the advice she has given, will have been really beneficial.”
