Following a visit last month, Norton St Philip Pre-school has retained the Good rating it received at its previous inspection in 2019.
The pre-school is located in the grounds of Norton St Philip Church of England First School.
The quality of education, leadership and management, children’s behaviour and attitudes and their personal development are all rated as Good in the report, which was published on Wednesday, 18th June.
The inspector says: “The close-knit team of staff work well together to form their observations and assessments of children’s development into next steps in their learning.”
Staff are described as “very caring and patient”. The report adds: “Children warm to them readily and build strong bonds with them. Children are sensitively and attentively supported.”
The report says the pupils have lots of opportunity to be active in the fresh air both in the garden and on walks around the village, which support their understanding of their local community.
The inspector highlights: “The long-standing staff team is dedicated to providing the best it can for children and their families.
“Staff work cohesively and efficiently together to evaluate their effectiveness, continually outlining and enhancing their practice and provision.”
There is said to be an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children’s interests first.
There are 25 children on the roll at the pre-school, which has been going since 2003.
