Two new family-type children’s homes being proposed in Keynsham

Streetz Ahead Creative Housing Ltd has submitted planning applications to turn two houses in Keynsham into children’s homes.

One is in Broadlands Avenue, the other at Lulworth Road.

The applicant says both will be Ofsted-regulated and accommodate up to three children aged between eight and 17.

They will both operate as family homes, rather than institutional facilities.

No extensions or alterations are proposed to either, and parking arrangements will remain unchanged, with vehicle movements expected to be similar to those associated with a typical family home, with staff changes managed to avoid unnecessary activity.

Streetz Ahead Creative Housing Ltd, which says it has successfully supported vulnerable children and young people since 2016, says both proposals will help Bath & North East Somerset Council address a need for local residential care provision.

Anyone wishing to comment on the Broadlands Avenue proposal has until 29th July, with objections already posted on the council’s planning portal regarding noise and disturbance and that there are already parking and traffic concerns in the cul-de-sac, especially at peak school run times.

The deadline for comments on the Lulworrth Road proposal is 30th July.
