Wessex Water is once again opening its doors for their annual Apprenticeship Open Day, beginning the recruitment of apprentices for September 2019.

Anyone interested in apprenticeships, along with their family and friends, is being invited to the water and sewerage company’s Bath headquarters on Saturday 20th October.

Around a quarter of apprentices taken on by Wessex Water this year attended the 2017 Open Day, and the latest event will showcase the variety of roles on offer in both technical and office-based departments.

As well as this, visitors will be able to take part in speed interviews and attend seminars hosted by current apprentices, who will discuss their experiences as an apprentice so far.

Early careers apprentice Liberty Howe, who has worked to co-ordinate the open day, said: “Last year’s event was a great success and, with the addition of new stands and technology this year, we’re hoping to continue building on that achievement.

“The open days provide an insight into how different areas of the company work but are also a lot of fun, so there’s something interesting for any young person interested in an apprenticeship now or in the future.”

Apprenticeship programmes can be the first step towards long and successful careers, and Wessex Water have evidence of this.

Ashlea Lane began his career with the company as an advanced engineering apprentice aged just 16, and he has since worked his way up to become director of water supply.

Ashlea said: “The apprenticeship provided me with relevant experience and that essential foot in the door to the industry, and without it I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Wessex Water’s Operations Centre is located in Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7WW. Doors will open from 10am.
