Businesses, charities and organisations across the local area are being invited to a ‘Make the World a Better Place’ marketplace being held at Kingswood School on Tuesday 28th June, from 2pm – 3.30pm.

Run on an annual basis, the marketplace gives local organisations the opportunity to show Year 9 students how they act in a sustainable and responsible manner through initiatives such as sustainable design, charitable projects or new inventions.

Previous businesses who have taken part in the marketplace, which have included Amnesty, BANES, The Samaritans, The Woodland Trust and Adams Morey Trucks, have brought cars and lorries which the pupils explored, set up exhibitions about their organisations and participated in question and answer sessions.

Hands-on projects which the pupils can explore are particularly sought after by the school.

Kingswood Design and Technology teacher and organiser, Sean Thomas said:  “The focus of the event is to raise awareness amongst our pupils about the issues affecting the local and worldwide communities and how the choices they make can have a huge impact on others around them.

“We want pupils to think and act independently in a responsible manner and to develop into young people who have a positive and lasting impact on the community that they are part of.”

To take part, contact Sean Thomas on [email protected] or Suzanne Marshall on [email protected].
