Kingswood Prep School in Bath has won the Education Project of the Year category in the 2019 Michelmores Property Awards, following their recent £5.1 million redevelopment.
The multi-million pound project saw the creation of a new two storey preparatory school, with a main hall, a single-storey nursery, and a single storey reception classroom.
Will Mumford, a judge of the Michelmores Property Awards said: “Kingswood Prep School is a very successful scheme and a well-deserved winner.
“The school is situated in a pastoral setting surrounded by trees, and the building reflects this theme within its design – creating a really warm educational setting.”
The buildings feature a mix of pitched and hipped roofs, walls partially clad in traditional brickwork and western red cedar shingles to the upper walls and roofs.
The project used innovative and sustainable cross-laminated timber construction methods – which consists of large panels of laminated spruce used to form the walls, floors, roof and stairs of the buildings.
The 2019 Michelmores Property Awards Gala Dinner was held at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter, on Thursday 13th June, hosted by actor and writer Sally Phillips.
The annual Michelmores Property Awards, now in its 17th year, celebrates the very best of the South West’s building and construction sector.
