Councillors in Bath and North East Somerset have given their backing to calls for a pedestrian crossing to be installed outside St Saviour’s Junior and Infants school in Larkhall.

At a Full Council meeting last Thursday, 15th January, Councillors voted to support a motion moved by Conservative Councillors.
The motion called upon the authority to start work as soon as possible on plans for a crossing at the site, with design and consultation work starting within the current financial year.
The motion was passed after a petition calling for a crossing to be installed at the site gained over 1,000 signatures, meaning it had enough support to force a vote on the issue at a Full Council meeting.
Following the meeting, Conservative shadow transport spokesman Cllr Anthony Clarke, who moved the motion calling for work to start on the crossing, said: “I’m very pleased that our calls for the Council to get on with the design work on this pedestrian crossing gained the support of other Councillors.
“It has taken far too long to get anything done about this issue, so the local people who collected the signatures for this petition are to be congratulated.
“Our hope is that this will force the Council to listen to residents and get work started on this as soon as possible, with design and consultation work starting immediately.”
