103 Club @ Weston Children’s Centre in Bath has retained its Good Ofsted rating following a recent inspection.

There are 95 children on the roll at the club at Penn Hill Road, which had last been inspected in 2019.

As well as being a pre-school, the club offers a breakfast club and after-school provision and is also open for school-age children during school holidays.

It is rated as Good for the quality of education, leadership and management, children’s behaviour and attitudes and their personal development.

The inspector says in her report that the children build strong relationships with staff and are happy at the club.

Staff implement their curriculum and development aims for the children effectively.

They help children become “strong, confident and independent learners in readiness for their move on to school”.

Children get “fun and stimulating activities” and are inspired to explore nature.

They show very positive attitudes to challenges and developing their skills, learning to do things for themselves, such as pouring their own drinks and working to get their shoes on and off.

Leaders are said to offer suitable coaching and support to staff, closely assessing teaching and practice to ensure they are providing the best they can for children and their families.

To further improve, the provider is asked to review and adapt the support for children’s emerging speech in order to progress their skills more rapidly.
