The British Army is visiting the University of Bath today, as part of its biggest university outreach campaigns to date, to encourage students to belong to one of the most respected organisations in the world.
The two-month roadshow, across 37 universities, forms part of a national recruitment campaign the British Army launched at the beginning of the year to highlight the impact the Army has on making a positive difference to people’s lives.
It will be coming to the University of Bath today, Monday 13th February, where Officers will be available to talk to interested students.
As well as travelling around 17 universities to visit students on-campus, the Army will also engage with students at an additional 20 universities digitally through a new social outreach campaign.
The Army’s new campaign, ‘Belong’, calls on students to achieve their ambitions of doing something that makes a difference, as research reveals three quarters (78%) of people in the South West believe it’s important to actively contribute towards a worthwhile cause.
Almost half (45%) of 18 to 35-year-olds want to do more in 2017 to help others and make their communities better places to live.
Students will hear from serving Officers to find out how they can take their ambitions to do more for good causes to the next level, sign up for adventure training and travel opportunities, and achieve worthwhile things that are unthinkable on your own.
The British Army has supported humanitarian missions in many countries, such as Sierra Leone and regularly supports the UK by providing emergency response assistance, for example by helping victims of flooding and recently supporting communities affected by the January snow storm
General Paul Nanson, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst: “Life in the British Army nurtures a sense of friendship and belonging that you simply don’t get in any other career path.
“Our support network is second to none, with training delivered progressively, building on the natural talent every individual brings to us.
“British Army Officers are given real opportunities to make a positive difference to the world on a daily basis, whether they serve for a full career or just a few years.
“That meaningful purpose is something we know today’s new generation of leaders is looking for.”
