The National Student Survey results have been announced and Bath Spa University has scored a record 90 per cent for overall satisfaction, it has shown.
The result places the University joint 16th in the country, with a score equal to the universities of Cambridge, Sheffield, Durham, Cardiff, Exeter and Bath.
This is the third year running that Bath Spa has seen an increase in its score which is well above the national average of 86 per cent.
Specific subjects also scored very highly including Theology and Religious studies which received 100 per cent, placing it joint top in the country.
Other subjects that fared particularly well, especially when compared to the rest of the UK include:
- History (97 per cent), tenth best in the country;
- Nutrition (97 per cent), fifth best in the country;
- English (95 per cent) in the top 20;
- Music (93 per cent), tenth best in the country;
- Philosophy (93 per cent) in the top 20;
- Dance (92 per cent) fourth best in the country;
- Fine Art (88 per cent) in the top 20 and an eight per cent increase from last year.
Professor Christina Slade, Vice-Chancellor of Bath Spa University said: “I am delighted that our students are so satisfied with their experience at Bath Spa.
“We have invested significantly in new; outstanding facilities and I believe this, combined with our excellent teaching, is reflected in our improved NSS results over the last three years.
“We will continue to work with our students to ensure they have the best all-round student experience possible during their time at Bath Spa University.”
More than 300,000 final-year students responded to the survey this year which represents a response rate of 71 per cent, the same as last year.
The results of the survey provide valuable information for prospective students, and help universities and colleges to further improve the education they provide.
