Bath College printmaking student, Catherine Roberts, was recently selected to have her work displayed at the National Original Print Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London.

The National Original Print Exhibition, established by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), is an international open submission competition celebrating the best of contemporary printmaking.

Catherine’s piece ‘After Käthe’ is one of her three prints that got through the competition to appear in the exhibition.

Catherine’s work is usually abstract and the piece was inspired by Käthe Kollwitz, a German Expressionist artist best known for her print, the Weavers.

Catherine has taken the Love2Learn printmaking course for the last three years following her Fine Art degree.

She said: “I wouldn’t have been able to create this work without the Printmaking course at Bath College.

“The teaching staff are knowledgeable and really helpful and there is a great atmosphere.

“Despite not living locally, I keep coming back for the course from Swindon as the facilities at the college are high quality.”

‘After Käthe’ was on display at the National Original Print Exhibition until the end of September. Catherine hopes to have her work on display in next year’s exhibition.
