Woman punched and hit man with hockey stick in road rage incident

A road rage incident which began near the Broadmead roundabout in Keynsham ended near Newbridge Park & Ride in Bath where an Audi driver was punched and then struck on the head with a hockey stick.

It happened on 13th December 2024, but the case only came to court last Wednesday, 15th July.

Robyn Jackson, 28, of Marmaduke Street in Bristol, admitted a charge of unlawfully and maliciously wounding the driver, and that it was racially aggravated. She had uttered a racial slur.

Jackson also admitted being in possession of an offensive weapon – the hockey stick – without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

Bath magistrates were shown images of the injury that Jackson inflicted on the back of the victim’s head in the middle of Newbridge Road after her Vauxhall Corsa and the Audi came to a stop. The wound required stitches.

The court heard that the attack put Jackson in breach of a nine-month conditional discharge which had been imposed in September 2024.

It followed two separate offences which happened in February of that year.

One was a racially aggravated public order offence and the other an offence of causing harassment, alarm or distress.

At the hearing last week, the magistrates ordered an all-options pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.

Jackson, who was remanded on unconditional bail, will return to court to be sentenced on 23rd September.
