Avon and Somerset Police have arrested a woman and recovered some stolen property as part of ongoing investigations into two burglaries in Bath.
A gaming console joystick stolen in a burglary in Oolite Road in June was recovered from a pawn shop, while a watch and a gold necklace, taken from Marlborough Buildings in April, were found near Royal Victoria Park.
A woman was arrested in connection with both break-ins on Friday 13rd July and subsequently released under investigation.
Police have issued some advice to help keep your home secure:
- Locking up and setting the alarm, if you have one, at night as well as when you go out;
- Making sure your door is locked by turning the key – some ‘paddle and stub’-handled doors might seem to be locked by lifting the handle, but can still be opened from outside.
- Keeping doors and windows locked if you’re not in the same room;
- Never leaving the key in the lock or in sight of the letterbox;
- Fitting a letterbox cage;
- Keeping handbags, wallets and other portable valuables out of sight;
- Joining Neighbourhood Watch
