Bristol City Council neighbourhood enforcement officers carried out investigations into reports of fly-tipping at several locations across Bristol, including Stockwood, Brislington, Hengrove and Hartcliffe, during January and February.
Colleagues from neighbouring Bath & North East Somerset Council also assisted with enquiries due to offences committed in the Keynsham area.
The enquiries focused on a vehicle displaying the registration MM16 NLA and bearing the words ’Reeces Waste’ on its sides.
The investigation was supported by members of the public who provided photographs and witness statements, helping officers gather the evidence needed to take action.
Thanks to those contributions, the vehicle, a white Ford Transit, was formally seized on the afternoon of 24th February at Dunster Road in Knowle and taken to a secure location for storage.
It was destroyed on 23rd April after no valid claim of ownership was established during the statutory period.
Bristol City Council says enquiries linked to offences connected with the vehicle are continuing in collaboration with neighbouring authorities.
There are investigations into the individuals who had access to it, and anyone with information that could help hold those responsible for the fly-tipping to account, is asked to contact 0117 922 2100.
B&NES Council says it will take action against anyone caught fly-tipping on public land and thanked everyone who assisted with the investigation so far.
Anyone who witnesses fly-tipping in B&NES is urged to report it via https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/report-fly-tipping, noting the date, time, location, registration number of the vehicle used, plus its make and model, along with a description of the person fly-tipping and any photographic evidence.
