Renewed appeal for witnesses after driver dies following A46 collision

A man has died following a collision involving two cars on the A46 near Bath.

Emergency services were called to the road near Upper Swainswick at 3.06pm on Saturday 11th July after a white Dacia and a black Range Rover collided.

The three occupants of the Dacia were taken to hospital, where the driver died later that evening.

Police say his family are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.

A woman and a child who were passengers in the Dacia remain in hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man in his thirties, the driver of the Range Rover, was arrested in Wiltshire on Saturday night on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has since been released on conditional police bail while officers continue their enquiries.

The A46 was closed while emergency services attended and investigators carried out their initial work at the scene. The road has since reopened.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to officers to come forward.

They are also seeking dashcam footage showing a black Range Rover travelling westbound on the M4 or southbound on the A46 during the afternoon of Saturday 11th July.
