Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens is asking local residents to submit questions ahead of an upcoming Facebook live video with Avon and Somerset Police’s Chief Constable later this month.
The topic of discussion throughout the 30-minute live video on Wednesday 30th November will be based around a number of themes including police officer assaults, domestic abuse, modern slavery and police stations, and will end by taking a selection of other questions that have been submitted.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “Our first Facebook live video talking about hate crime, mental health and recruitment was a great success, with the video receiving over 3,000 views.
“We had some really interesting questions submitted and I’d like to thank everyone for taking the opportunity to put their local policing questions to the Chief Constable.
“We’ve selected some really timely topics for discussion at our next session and I hope that local people will take the time to once again send us their questions. I want to represent your views in local policing and I can only do that if you tell me what matters most to you.”

Chief Constable Andy Marsh said: “The first live video with the Commissioner was really well received. You put forward some really good questions for me such as how prepared is our firearms capability and what are the police doing to tackle hate crime?
“I was impressed and delighted to answer these questions. It’s important to the Commissioner and I that we are as open with local people and it’s vital that we hear your concerns so I would encourage you to submit your questions.”
Chief Constable Andy Marsh is responsible for day-to-day operational policing and has direction and control of the Constabulary’s officers and staff.
It is the PCC’s responsibility to set the strategic direction for policing in Avon and Somerset and hold the Chief Constable to account for delivering policing.
