On their Facebook page this week, Bath & North East Somerset Neighbourhood Policing say: “Please be mindful of rogue traders attending properties and carrying out work that is either unnecessary or has not been authorised by the homeowner.
“They then often request payment, frequently charging significantly more than the work is worth. There have been several instances of this reported in the Bath area recently.
“If you are approached by someone offering services at your property, do not feel pressured into agreeing to work immediately.
“Always seek quotes from reputable companies, check credentials, and be wary of requests for cash payments.
“If you have any concerns, please report them to the relevant authorities.”
