Officers from Avon and Somerset Police investigating the death of a 27-year-old man in Bath on Sunday have been given additional time to question two of the people arrested.

A 27-year-old man was stabbed at about 4.30pm on Sunday (13th August) in the Sedgemoor Road area of Bath. He died shortly afterwards.

The death of the man is being treated as a murder investigation.

A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of affray has been released without charge.

Officers now have until tomorrow (Wednesday evening) to question a 30-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, and 42-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Areas around Sedgemoor Road remain cordoned off and will remain so for at least another two days while investigations continue.

DI Mike Buck, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “We would like to thank the community for their patience and support during our ongoing investigation.

“We have had lots of people coming forward with information which has made all the difference in the initial stages of our enquiries.”

The results of the post mortem has confirmed the death was due to a stab wound to the victim’s chest.

Formal identification of the victim has not yet been completed.
